Protect your credit when traveling!

Protect your credit when traveling!  Recently I had a client forget to inform there credit card company that they were traveling out of the county, thank goodness.  Doing this saved them a huge hassle.  While staying in Mexico they did some deep see fishing and made a big catch.  Wanting to remember the moment forever, decided to have the fish mounted.  The caption of the fishing boat said he could take care of having it mounted, but needed payment.  Since this was a well know tour company that was supported by the hotel they were staying at, he gave his credit card number to the caption.  Since he had not contacted his credit card company, the card declined.  He decided to pay another way.  Once back in the US, he realized he did not get the credit card back form the boat caption.  When he called his credit card company to report the lost credit card he was told that there had been several attempted charges to his card totaling thousands of dollars.  Thank goodness he had not given authorization to accept credit card charges.  The lesson… always let your credit card company know when and were you are traveling to and check back with them to make sure you have not had unwanted charges to your card.
